How quickly things can change. After a rough weekend, several of the Big Ten’s name brand programs fell on the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook’s odds board.

Braxton Miller’s season-ending shoulder injury threw a wrench into the Buckeye’s plans well before Saturday’s home loss to Virginia Tech doubled their championship odds from 20-to-1 to 40-to-1. Misery loves company though, and Ohio State was not alone.

To say Michigan State was hanging with Oregon (6-to-1) would be an understatement, because the Spartans (40-to-1) were leading the Ducks 27-18 in the second half before Marcus Mariota and Co. ripped off 28 unanswered points en route to a 46-27 comeback win – and cover (-14). The loss stretched MSU’s number from 25-to-1 to 40-to-1.

Michigan, if not considered a real threat to crash college football’s first playoff party, certainly looks to be out of the mix after a 31-0 drubbing at the hands of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. At 100-to-1, the Wolverines weren’t among the favorites heading into Saturday, but at 300-to-1, it appears a minor miracle is necessary for Big Blue to even return to the conversation.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers didn’t lose on Saturday, but they weren’t convincing in their 31-24 win over McNeese State, a game that was locked at 24 apiece with 35 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter before Ameer Abdullah took a short pass 58 yards to the house. Their price increased from 75-to-1 to 100-to-1 despite the victory.

Michigan State and Ohio State still hold the shortest odds (40-to-1) of any Big Ten program. They’re followed by the Wisconsin Badgers, who bounced back from last week’s 28-24 loss to LSU with an easy 37-3 win over FCS Western Illinois.
