The Crimson Tide’s defeat on Saturday, delivered by LSU, wasn’t enough to knock them out of the top five, however; Alabama fell to No. 4 in the Coaches Poll and AP Top 25, leaving Nick Saban and Co. in striking distance, presumably, of a College Football Playoff rematch. With the win, the Tigers moved up to No. 1 in the Coaches Poll, retaining that position the AP Top 25.

Penn State, however, wasn’t as lucky after losing its battle of undefeateds against Minnesota. The loss knocked the Nittany Lions all the way to No. 11 in the Coaches Poll and No. 9 in the AP Top 25, though they do still control their destiny in the Big Ten and Playoff races. Minnesota moved up to No. 7 in both polls.
Those were the big games on Saturday, but close calls by Baylor and Oklahoma and blowouts by Ohio State and Clemson changed the top-25 landscape as well.
