Johnson slammed the school for its “incompetent” leadership, including four “awful” athletic directors — former Packers linebacker George Koonce, Rick Costello, Andy Geiger and current AD Amanda Braun. Johnson called Braun a “deplorable human being” who is “horribly under-qualified” and bad at her job.

In what was an extremely unpopular decision, Braun fired basketball coach Rob Jeter in March after 11 seasons that included a pair of Horizon League titles and two NCAA Tournament appearances. The Panthers rebounded from a 14-16 season in 2014-15 to win 20 games this past season.

Milwaukee announced earlier this month Michigan assistant LaVall Jordan would take over as the Panthers’ head coach.

After making the NCAA Tournament in 2014, Milwaukee was hit with a one-year postseason ban due to a low Academic Progress Rate.

UPDATE: UWM responded Friday in a statement, saying Johnson’s comments were “unwarranted and unfair and are likely motivated by his own suspension from his position in February for making racially insensitive remarks during the broadcast of a Panther game. Johnson was allowed to return to his duties after apologizing to a player and the coach of an opposing team.”
