Now grammar geeks can’t say that words such as twitterer, captcha, amazeballs, lolz or tiger mother are incorrect English as these words are included in the dictionary.
Collins Dictionary gives a word a real status as the only reason a word becomes a word is when many people start using it.
Collins got as many as 4,400 submissions from people all over, out of which it accepted few and released the list earlier this week.
Apart from the mentioned words, such as Facebook and Bing becoming verbs, bashtag has also entered the lexicon, which the dictionary has defined as (on the Twitter website) a hashtaɡ that is used for critical and abusive comments.
Other words including frenemy and thanx- an informal way of saying thank you have also made their mark.
Collins lexicographers accept the words after going through an intensive review. The words need to be used a lot and should have endurance to enter the dictionary.
