The MP5 is not just popular in Call of Duty: Warzone, it is also one of the most beloved SMGs by real-world special forces because of its reliability, accuracy, and smooth firing. All of those benefits carry over into Call of Duty, as the MP5 has the handling characteristics of an SMG combined with a high degree of accuracy and very manageable recoil. However, there is a lot more to the MP5 in Warzone than just throwing together some good attachments. With the right setup, it can become extremely overpowered, but if the user doesn’t play to the gun’s strengths, it won’t be nearly as competitive. The old setups from Modern Warfare’s standard multiplayer don’t apply quite the same in Warzone.

Best MP5 Attachments for Warzone
For starters, there are a few MP5 attachments that should be avoided in Warzone. Much like the ever-popular M4A1, the MP5 has the option of changing its ammo type for a different shooting experience. However, while the 10mm rounds that can be added to the MP5 increase damage per shot and boost range, they slow down the rate of fire and only come in 30-round magazines. It is far better to stick with 45-round magazines of the normal 9mm bullets for faster fire rate.
Muzzle attachments can help with recoil stabilization and provide other benefits, but they are obsolete on the MP5 because of its barrel modification options. The MP5 has two of the best barrel mod options in the game: the Monolithic Integral and the Subsonic Integral barrels. Both of these integrated suppressors have a huge number of benefits, especially in Warzone where stealth is key to survival. Unfortunately, they preclude the use of muzzle attachments, but that is a small price to pay for better recoil control and top-notch silencing.
The best mods to consider for an MP5 aside from 45-round mags for shredding through armor and Integral Subsonic barrel are the Classic Straight-line stock, FSS Close Quarters stock, and Commando foregrip. Optics are totally up to personal preference, while lasers are largely pointless in Warzone. In Modern Warfare’s standard multiplayer modes, a 5MW laser can be a solid choice, but its visibility is a major downside while slight increases to handling speeds are far less important in Warzone.
Best MP5 Builds for Warzone
The MP5 is capable of becoming a close-range man shredder with an FSS Mini barrel, Stippled Grip Tape, FTAC Collapsible stock, and 5MW laser, but that kind of speed and handling just isn’t necessary in Warzone. It is far better to play to the strengths of the MP5 as the SMG best suited to longer-range combat. In a well balanced Warzone squad, the MP5 is perfect because it can compensate for other members with long range ARs and DMRs like the new SKS Sniper. Regardless, even when kitted out for maximum range and stealth, the MP5 will have better handling than practically any AR. That’s why balanced and long-range builds are the most practical.

A balanced MP5 build for Warzone would look something like this: an optic of choice, a Monolithic Integral suppressor barrel, Commando foregrip, 45-round mags, and FSS Close Quarters stock. Even then, a “balanced” build doesn’t take full advantage of the MP5’s potential. An MP5 that maxes out both stealth and accuracy would have a zoom optic, Subsonic Integral suppressor barrel, Commando foregrip, 45-round mags, and Classic Straight-line stock. To choose which loadout works best personally, it’s perfectly viable to test out all the attachments even before they’re unlocked.
MP5 Tips and Tricks for Warzone
There is even more to squeezing maximum potential out of the MP5 than just having a solid attachment setup. With the right loadout and carefully chosen perks, the MP5 can cross over the edge from a strong weapon into being completely overpowered. Of course, even with an OP setup, the key to doing well with the MP5 is about how it’s used. Going for headshots to take advantage of the gun’s excellent damage multiplier is vital, but so is having good teammates and reliable secondary weapons to count on.
While a good launcher as a secondary weapon or a sniper with the overkill perk might seem tempting, the real trick to making the MP5 overpowered comes when adding the right weapon mods to a handgun as the sidearm. There is a little-known trick for essentially adding six weapon attachments to certain guns, and it relies on using the right kind of secondary weapon. Since the MP5 uses 9mm ammo, it will share its ammunition pool with any 9mm pistol that is carried as a sidearm. That means that adding the Fully Loaded perk to the sidearm will max out the ammunition for both the pistol and the MP5, bringing the ammo count up to about 450 rounds. With that much firepower right off the bat, the MP5 is a force to be reckoned with.
Luckily, the extremely versatile Renetti handgun uses 9mm ammunition, and it also happens to be the best pistol in the game. A loadut with a stealthy, long-range MP5 and a Renetti kitted out with three round bursts, a stock, and the Fully Loaded perk is one of the most powerful setups possible in Warzone. At that point, the only thing to remember is that when one gun runs out of ammo, the other will come up dry too.
