Funcom is also trying to add incentive for players by adding a veteran points system where players who have been subscribed for more than one month will accumulate these points which can be exchanged for rewards at various in-game vendors.

The move has raised some eyebrows and is forcing gamers to ask the question as to whether or not this is a sign of Age of Conan’s doom. Reports are stating that after once boasting numbers around 700 000 players, the current number resembles something less than 100 000. Funcom nevertheless has announced and seems to be moving forward with the proposed expansion Age of Conan: Rise of the God Slayer.

Perhaps another playable race and new content can reinvigorate the seemingly weakening franchise. Along with the new expansion to help promote the game is the possible buzz that will be generated by the upcoming new Conan feature film. Only time will tell.

Do you think an in-game cameo by the Governator himself could help bolster sales? Or should Funcom be looking forwards to making a new expansion, Conan the librarian?
